about the artist

My name is Sierra Peralta, and I'm a mixed media artist living and working in San Diego, CA.
“Art for Ice Cream” started in 2016. The name is an alias I created to capture my playful nature as I nervously (but excitedly) pursued art as more than just a hobby.
Since then, I’ve painted in places like Thailand, South Africa, Cuba, The Philippines, France, Hawaii and more. In my adventures I always make time to be with nature, whether that’s by sitting in a garden, hiking, scuba diving, or simply admiring flowers growing through a sidewalk!
I’m attracted to plants for their stillness, delicacy, functional anatomy, geometric shapes, and roles in our ecosystem. I appreciate their diversity, restorative properties in medicine, their place in folk culture, and their universal presence.
My artistic process involves intimately observing nature and reconstructing it in a dreamscape atmosphere that emphasizes its color, anatomy, and climate. My goal is to inspire my viewers to look more closely at the world around them and to help them discover beauty in unsuspecting places.
